My first big event is in 5 days.
76,000 square feet at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
All of it free.
All of it for kids.
By the numbers, it should work:
2 Local TV interviews.
15,000 free tickets handed out.
Tens of thousands of my own dollars spent.
But here's what nobody tells you about throwing an event.
None of those numbers answer the only questions that matter:
Will people actually show up?
If they show up, will they have fun?
Will a kid walk out of that building loving Pokemon a little more than when they walked in?
I don't know. I won't know until Saturday.
That's the deal you make when you build things. You spend the money, do the work, promote like crazy, and then you wait. The outcome shows up on its own schedule, not yours.
A free ticket costs nothing to take. Showing up costs a Saturday.
In 5 days I find out how many people spend theirs with us.
IZZISCON. July 18. Sioux Falls Convention Center. Come prove me right.
