My first business died in a puddle of melted chocolate.
I was 8 years old. Chris and Nick Candy Company, me and my twin brother.
We had product. We had customers. We had a display case.
We put the display case in direct sunlight.
Every chocolate bar we owned melted. Inventory gone. Company over.
Here is what took me another twenty years to understand: the candy was good.
The demand was real. The pricing worked. We died because of one detail nobody thought to check.
A deal I have been working on for months went sideways this week.
Same shape, bigger stakes.
It still stings.
Reps do not make you numb to it.
They just shorten the recovery.
So: move the case out of the sun. Restock. Go again.
I have a million ideas. On to the next one.
